To get to the point....Our top 2 choices of places to move are Pittsburgh, PA or Portland, OR.
Why these two? Well, we lived in Pittsburgh before & loved it. Portland just seemed like our kind of place, so we went and visited last month & it was.
Well, we obviously can't live in both places. You know, since we're not freakishly wealthy or anything. So, how do we decide!? I mean, the two are really head to head right now.
Pittsburgh:
Houses are super affordable (Pgh is 63% cheaper)
Good public transportation
We have a bunch of great friends
Lots of our friends have kids
Closer to NC if Frank has to come for work
Close to a bunch of cool cities
We know we like it there
Home of the Steelers. :-)
It's really far from family& friends in CA.
Portland:
Houses are more expensive
Really good public tranport!
We have 2 friends here. They don't have kids.
Farther from NC if there's a work issue F has to return for.
Not as close to as many big cities.
It's very "green friendly"
We're pretty sure we'd like it - It's just our kind of place
2 hour direct flight from CA, same time zone, cheap flights, driveable.
I know we have a year to decide & figure it all out, but that kind of seems to make it worse. *sigh* What to do, what to do?

hmmm..having lots of friends with kids is a big plus..My neighbors/friends around here are such a blessing..Seriously I'd be lost without them and its nice to know you have people around you you can trust..although family is good too..Which can you lean on more? and um..do u have kids yet? didn't notice any..just curious old Richard Marx loving buddy!
Nope, no kids, but we've been trying for some time. :-) And Repeat Offender really was a great album. :-)
